Office of the Fire Chief

                                  Chris Aponte, Colonel

I joined the Harrods Creek FPD as a volunteer in July 1979 at age 18.  I became an EMT in 1980 and worked for MEDIC ambulance in Jeffersonville until becoming a Paramedic in 1983.  I worked for Louisville EMS for four years and worked as a Flight Paramedic for SkyCare for eight years.  During those years I was an active firefighter with Harrods Creek FPD and achieved the rank of Captain.  In 1994 I left SkyCare to come to work for Harrods Creek FPD as a firefighter and was moved to Day Staff Supervisor in 1995.  I became Assistant Chief a few years later and was promoted to Chief on December 31, 2001.

I have two boys who are most of the rest of my life.  I am involved in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes motocross team and race a couple of times a month.  I enjoy SCUBA diving, flying and traveling.
